05/03/04  COB: No meeting called.

 

06/07/04  COB: Tony Palermo, First Selectman and Tony Marino, Chair of the Finance Committee presented details about the Budget and answered questions about it. Dan Cyr, Chair of the Board of Education, was also invited but was unable to attend.

 

07/12/04  COB: Troy Forman, Chairman of the Ad Hoc committee on Senior Tax Relief presented the current draft of the committee’s recommendations This draft can be accessed in the “Reference Material” file at the Westbrook COB News Group Site . 07/20/04  Be sure to cast your vote in the Budget Referendum. Polls will be open 6:00am to 8:00pm. This is longer than previous referendums so that everyone eligible to vote will be able to get to the polls. Remember! Every vote counts!

 

08/02/04  COB: Lew Daniels, Head of the Westbrook Library, and Shirley Lusk, Chair of the New Library Committee will briefly present the current plans for expanding the library and explain where they are trying to get funding and why some of the money will have to be spent whether or not an expansion occurs. Our main presenters will be Marilyn Ozols, Chair of the Water Pollution Control Commission and Mary Jane Engle, Town Sanitarian, who will talk about the new Onsite Wastewater Treatment Plan for Westbrook, and answer questions about it. 08/19/04  Town Meeting on Budget. 7:30pm at the Mulvey Municipal Center. At the end of the discussion the meeting will be adjourned to the 8/31 Referendum.

 

08/24/04  Public Hearing by the School Building Committee to present the current status of the project, including actual vs. projected costs, and answer questions from the public. Hearing will be held at 7:30pm in the High School Auditorium.

 

08/31/04  Fourth Budget Referendum. 6:00am to 8:00pm at the Mulvey Municipal Center. Be sure to cast your vote because every vote counts.

 

09/09/04  DOT Public Information Meeting on the I-95 Branford to RI Feasibility Study Draft Final Report. 6:30pm, Westbrook Community Center (library basement), 61 Goodspeed Dr. Brief formal presentation at 7:00pm then open house to 9:30pm. Copies of the report and the locations of other information meetings can be viewed at the library or on line at http://www.i95southeastct.org .

 

09/13/04  COB: First Selectman Tony Palermo, Resident Trooper Rob Hart of the Resident Troopers Office and Asst. Chief Ralph Buck of the Fire Department will talk about the problem of out of control fireworks on the Fourth of July and answer questions from concerned Associations and their members. In addition to the illegal fireworks themselves there is a related traffic problem that could prevent emergency vehicles from reaching injured parties or burning buildings.

 

10/04/04  COB: This will be our last meeting of the year. The main topics will be our visibility, agenda priorities and communications during the Winter months.
